With the "official" binary i was getting:
"<FAILED> file "socket.ext.dll": Invalid access to memory location."

with that one I get:
"<FAILED> file "socket.ext.dll": %1 is not a valid Win32 application."

I would prefer runing linux but I can't do anything about it right now

Anyone with a solution for this one ?

Make sure there are no spaces in the directories leading up to the extensions folder.

There is indeed a "/123.45.67.89 port 27015/" directory... Thats how TCAdmin manages servers afaik. Thats why I hate shared hosting. I'll see what I can do about it.

Thanks ;)

Spaces in the path shouldn't cause any issues whatsoever.

You are right. I wasn't able to reproduce it.
It works for me either way.

Question when installing this to l4d2 server:

1) The files that go into "scripting" folder besides the 3 .sp files, also the entire "include" folder should be extracted to there?

2) Besides the "socket.ext.so" file Do I also have to extract the "socket.ext.dll" into the same folder?

There are already plenty of people in this thread here, that have installed it correctly it seems. Or just people who knows.
And could give me a hand, so I also could get it installed properly?

Hi everyone,

I've read plenty of pbs here, not sure if they're all linked, but I did have troubles too a few weeks ago, concerning the update of some plugins. And most of the plugins which updates themselves, like Smac, are using an extension like cURL/SteamTools/Sockets.
I wanted to let you know that I changed Sockets for SteamTools and it's working great.
I don't want to criticize Sockets, that I've been using for months (wait, no, for years!), but I just wanted to let you know that...

I'm on Linux.
