I've had many servers at multiple GSP's with multiple configurations (300-1000 fps) and I can say for sure that 1000 fps server when given the necessary resources it works better for the player. And by that I mean not only latency, but way better hit registration and smoother gameplay... You can try to minimalise the importance of FPS, but it's very important factor in good server performance.

I was just trying to play devil's advocate here, if my choice is between a higher fps server and a lower wtf kind of moron goes lower? I just don't see much difference in game play, public server play. I wouldn't pay a ton more for it. To use your ferrari comparison more correctly, a 1000 fps server isn't a ferrari compared to a 500 fps beat up yugo. It's more like a ferrari compared to a nice audi. Id take the 500 if the server is in my city vs a 1000 fps server across the country all day.
