Put RESgen to C:\RESgen\
Create a folder C:\RESgen\maps\
Put it all *.bsp in C:\RESgen\maps\
Create a res.bat in C:\RESgen\ with this input:

C:\RESgen\RESGen.exe -o -d C:\RESgen\map

Doubleklick, done. 1 minute.

They don't have to. If they are not using fast downloads, they have no reason to have res files. So, if the maps don't come with res files, but the user wants to use them for fast download, then they must make them their selves. You can't force someone to do something so that it makes it easier on you. Just do it yourself. You probably could of done it by now with all of the posting you have done here

No, the directions you gave me didn't work, and they shouldn't have halfassed the project, you also need .res files for wad files, and specific downloads, or the map crashes the server or client.

To be honest, I have never used res files until I decided to switch to fast download. They are not needed unless you want them. The job is not halfassed, he did what he said he would do. All he did was find the maps and extract them all. So, if there is no res file, then the map download never came with it in the first place. So, don't take your anger out on him, take it out on the authors of the maps.


Anyways, once you have gotten all of the maps out and placed into their folders, extract the resgen the parent directory of the maps folder. Create a batch file and call it whatever you want. Make sure it has this in the file

resgen.exe -o -d maps

Then, double click on the batch file and it will run.

Well, it is not needed per say, it supposedly speeds things up in finding the required files, or so I have read. I only use them because the place where I learned how to set up fast download recommended it, but I can't remember where that site is anymore. And, I didn't say it was needed.

NOTE: You need to make .res files for all the maps and you need to make sure all resource names listed (and placed at the http) are spelled exactly the same.
