How big is too big?

My admins.cfg file that is loaded by Sourcebans on map change is about 188k. I suspect this is occasionally causing the server to hang during map change.

My question is....is this too big a file, and if it is - is there anything I can do to insure it doesn't cause the server to hang? Is there any alternative method that would be more efficient that having Sourcebans reload the file every map change?

Need some HELP!

My host told me they have opened the ports that sourcebans needs.

my databases.cfg looks like these.

Quote:
"Databases"
{
"driver_default" "mysql"

"sourcebans"
{
"driver" "default"
"host" "46.4.65.71"
"database" "******"
"user" "******"
"pass" "******"
//"timeout" "0"
"port" "3306"
}

"storage-local"
{
"driver" "sqlite"
"database" "sourcemod-local"
}

"clientprefs"
{
"driver" "sqlite"
"host" "localhost"
"database" "clientprefs-sqlite"
"user" "root"
"pass" ""
//"timeout" "0"
//"port" "0"
}
}
But my sourcebans site still says ERROR CONNECTING...

What am I doing wrong?

You need to make sure your database can accept remote connections from your server I.P address. You may need to do that manually through your control panel. I don't think your provider did that.

Click on "Remote MySQL" (Allow remote connections) in cPanel add 46.4.65.71%

if I had a dollar for every time a host told me they had those ports opened Id have .. $6. If the above doesn't work, it would appear that most hosts have different levels of security and somewhere on some tier they aren't allowing your connection. What country do you live, how much do you pay and what do you use the hosting for?

Ahh bad luck I run hosting that allows Sourcebans but we're in Australia. Just for fun did you try it with the wildcard? >>> 46.4.65.71%
Not that it should really make a difference.

Could you ask them what it is exactly they had to change?

Please remember that the gameserver configuration including the databases.cfg setup is independant to any issues with the webpanel. Problems with serverinfo not showing up on the webpanel don't need any changes in remote mysql access. The webhost just has to open the ports as described in the FAQ.
