If dead means full of non-steamers, then yes, it is dead.

But in reality, it is not actually dead in the sense that a lot of people still play it.

It is the 2nd most played game on steam, behind team fortress 2 (which just recently became a free game).

For an 11 year old game, that is pretty good.

I mean like since all new games such as counter-strike source and like nikhilgupta pointed out tf2 is free. People will still play 1.6 once go comes out but scrim wise the game is pretty much dead. It died because of cheaters. I loved when it was like 1.3 and 1.5 with all the legit people with 4 and 5 digits and shit. Loved that because they were all legit and back then vac worked. Now vac barely works. You can pretty much cheat and not get vacced. CS Go will probably bring it back to life and mirc will be popping again with scrims and ringers. If you know mIRC back in like 2007 and 2008 theres like 1,600 in calscrim and findscrim and in find ringer theres like 2,000 and you get blown up with like 100 pms then you go see all the channels there in and decide what one you want. Or like scrim at 3 pm and shit. I remember playing with a ball mouse

Lol yeah, they were the good days. I had an eMachines ball mouse. Kept having to clean it between deaths.

Are you joking? You wouldn't have any of your current servers/games without it. It was one of the first FPS games that relied on skill, rather than luck. Still continues to be a game that not everyone can PICKUP one day and 'own' everyone. I played Black Ops once and went 8:1. No comparison in skill.
