Not nessassarly... If you don't have any ram to spend on running HLDS + your game, you probably don't have enough to boost the priority of the HLDS

It does not matter how much ram you have...play on the same machine...you will lag

I am only saying that I have a decent computer and when I tried to run a listen server everything was fine but the more people joined the more it lagged. I have close to 1 gig of ram, great upload and download speed but it made no difference

Yeah it just depends on the whole package. If you got some crazy voodoo computer or something maybe it won't lag, but hlds is one hella resource sucker.

BTW I had asked this before but....what do i put in the command line for my hlds shortcut so it starts on high priority every time it boots up?

is this for a server that is not on the same computer you play on?

I use the standalone hlds on the same computer I play on.

ctrl - alt - delete is a nice program to change the priority of a process

Thats true but if your computer shuts down the level will go back to default. With the checker it stays the same and even restarts it if it crashes
