That is some incredible cable bandwidth. The best RR speeds I get here (with the max package) is about 512kbit upload. That equates to 64kbytes upload with no tcp and routing overhead. According to my calculations, using the standard 4kbyte - 5kbyte minimum per player upload rate, your connection does, in theory, support your max player setting of 26.

Now back to the main topic about reducing lag. Remember that the average cs client will need about 4kbytes of upload from the server to maintain a lag free gaming environment. To get the exact usage use net_graph 4 or a similar command and take a look at the bandwidth usage.

As for 24mbit cable. It is possible under the any of the cablelabs docsis standards. Only problem is that most home routers cannot handle this. Not only this, but most providers probably won't supply this speed to the end user.

DOCSIS Downstream Upstream
1.0 38 Mbps 10 Mbps
2.0 40 Mbps 30 Mbps
3.0 160 Mbps 120 Mbps

As for the core internet speed: The internet runs really really fast. The school district that I used to attend has a dual fiber connection that gives them over 100mbits symmetric internet access. I administered 2 servers on gigabit ethernet connections on the high school campus and was able to obtain things like the entire fedora core install dvd in about 10 minutes. I remember getting a peak of 10 mbytes / sec download / upload. (Of course this is using the latest cisco routers with fiber backbones within the school district).

Hmm... well, Sempron isn't really the best processor, but would probably run a server...
Are you playing on the server on the same computer?

I got it working now, but can i run 2 servers at one computer the same time with no lagg?

Other players joined but they made it lagg.. when my friend was playing it wasn't lagging.. but when i kicked the "laggers" he could play again, is this a connection prob or a comp prob?

My recommendation... don't host a server...

I can run two 32 man servers full with no lag though...

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor
3700+
2.20 GHz, 1.50 GM of RAM2

Download Speed: 5021 kbps (627.6 KB/sec transfer rate) (4.9 Mb/sec)
Upload Speed: 1448 kbps (181 KB/sec transfer rate) (1.4 Mb/sec)

I just had to.
