im having problems with this it seems... sometimes it uses the old way of banning... ie putting them in the banned_user.cfg, and reading the bans with listid instead of using the database.

well what i have noticed is the Baned_user.cfg is actualy updated by the database so with that being said it is prob beacuse your database is loosing connection to the server temporaraly and not loading them...

is there a way to give ppl the ability to edit there own ban but not change the time of the ban.. i need the person who ban the user to be able to upload a demofile but i have noticed that it gives them the ability to change there ban to a perm ban and i do not want my admins to be able to perm ban with out the senior admins saying yes Perm Ban this guy...

impossible, since the database is on the same machine as the server.

It doesn't touch the banned_user.cfg

I can go in the web interface, and add bans through it, and they will be banned from the servers.

Just that bans in the servers aren't added to the database.

And you're sure these are bans made from sm_ban, and not for example by another plugin? SourceBans only makes temporary 5 minute bans, which as far as I know aren't written to banned_user.cfg (only permanent bans are).

sourcebans is the only banning plugin i have

it just makes the 5 minute tmp bans, and doesn't write to the database.

I wonder if these people that have problems banning, have the basebans plugin loaded with sourcebans. Cause basebans plugin is supposed to be disabled. I know sourcebans supposedly disables it but, there could be some issues there if they are both enabled.

Basebans is automatically moved if it exists when SourceBans loads.
