I'm not sure what else todo. I could use "EngFunc_FindEntityByString" and get the origin of every player and check the distance.

Use register_touch and when it's called just check the distance between the touching ent and the touched one. THAT was the point of using it

But the player wont always TOUCH the entity. They sometimes can't even get near it. Which is why I use register_think. And look for surrounding players.

And that is why you were told to add a big bounding box, so you can add the range you want. Do you need more than that?
