ok i got 7zip i just needed to know the file renaming part, thanks a ton i got it
also do the uncompressed maps need to be in the maps folder on the server as well?

Yes your server should always have decompressed versions of the maps in its maps folder. It can also have the compressed versions that will be served unless they are being served via a sv_fastdownload host.

why just dont use drag and drop with bzip2 I think is much better

There is a program that automates the bzip and remote transfer from your server to your remote web host. It is very convenient, the only problem being that the library of non-map files is out of date due to all the various additions to the game. You can create a fresh copy from a fresh server installation, though.

I forget the name of the program but I will look it up when I can and I will also provide my own generated "do not upload" index file.
