karlos, what does SOUND_TYPE_WAV_NOSUB mean? What's the difference between SOUND_TYPE_WAV_NOSUB & SOUND_TYPE_WAV?

Hi guys,

I have a little problem with version 1.6.3.
I have a SND-LIST that contains more than 1000 sound/keyword combo.
With 1.6.0 it works great, but today i upgraded to the new version, and the server wont start.

I changed this settings in the sma:

#define MAX_KEYWORDS 1280
#define MAX_RANDOM 12
#define TOK_LENGTH 150

If i use "only" 400 keywords in the SND-LIST it works. Is there any limit (with MAX_KEYWORDS, or SND-LIST.cfg size)?
If i try more than 400 keywords the server freeze in startup. No crash message or something.

I using AMX Mod X 1.8.1.3711 and Metamod v1.19.

SOUND_TYPE_WAV_NOSUB:
wav files located in "steam folder / <MOD> / XXX.wav" have this type assigned

wav files located in "steam folder / <MOD> / <FOLDERNAME> / XXX.wav" have "SOUND_TYPE_WAV" assigned

wav files that are not in a sub folder cannot be played with the HL command "spk FILENAME"
but only with "play FILENAME"

i do not understand why 1.6.0 does work with this list
it should complain too

steam folder / <MOD> / addons / amxmodx / logs:
check if there are any errors like: "Sank Sounds >>"

steam folder / <MOD> / logs:
look if you find errors which contain this message: "precache"

solution:
use the package system described in readme.txt

Thanks for the reply!

With packages it works, but if i understand package system, first package loaded in map1, on the next map package 2 loaded and package 1 unloaded, so players can use only package 2 keywords. (sorry for the stupid questions, i cant try it in this week).

If i not use packages, the server freeze at startup. No mod-based log generated at start, amxx log exists, but no error messages found.

server running with "log on" ?

you can use all keywords from every package
packages just tell the server which sounds to precache and therefor to download
if a player does not have a sound he will not hear it. he will need to wait for some more map changes

My server is rented now (i have no console access :\), but if i have enough time i test it on my local computer.

But with packages it works, so no more problem now, thanks

Hello
First of all, nice plugin
I have to ask about something..
Can it be fixed, so only the one who type the sound can hear it and not everyone..
I mean.. so people dont sound spam everyone

to prevent spam you have the options to limit by sound amount and play length

sank sounds was designed as a plugin to play sounds to everyone
limiting it to one player only takes out the fun of this plugin ( yes it is a fun plugin )

Ok.. hmm can it be fixed so the one who type the sound is the only one who hear it??
