Hi

Recently I tried to host a CS server from my home, have a separate PC, so what the heck.

Opened ports from my service. Also on my comp. Took firewall down. Didnt seem to work, so couldnt get my server running online. Then I took a friends internet config file (we both having a SpeedTouch routers) and used it on my connection. All seemed fine and CS ports seemed to be open. Think they were actually.

So, I tried to connect from my friends place. It connected nicely but like after a minute being in a server it lagged me out (or dunno, maybe timed out) and on serverlist it had 2000 latency :S. And when trying to connect again, it didnt make it past the Establishing connection or something. Though when connecting from the same PC my server was hosted, it didnt lag the player out. Only others. Whats that caused of?

Im desparate and need help. I dont know what to do next. Been messing with those ports and serverstuff all day. Anyone who helps will get lifetime appreaciation from me .

Thanks in advance,
Duster

Well, for players it seems to be crashed, but when to take a look at the server CPU, everything is ok. And when connecting from the same connection which the server is running on, You can play there.

Strange, eh?

It is probably not the best idea to run a server from a home connection. Your best bet might to be buying a server. I hope it works out for you.

Well, my connection is 12mbit/768kbit, I know its not that good for a server, but when setting maxrate lower, it might be pretty nice. Think Im going for 19 slots (1 reserv). I think its better than renting because You have the computer right there and thats nice. You dont have to pay anything either, exept for electricity. ;)
