Hello, my name is vvg125 and I am here to talk to you about a very important issue that plagues support boards across the world.
I will try to keep this post simple, and I won't make it too flashy, I just want to get a few points across.
As the AMX Super userbase has grown incredibly recently, we have been given a separate sub forum and have been getting quite a number of users in need of support. We try to help all those we can, however those in need of support can do (or not do) a number of things to make the whole process simpler and more efficient.
Here's the list as of now:
- 1. Please make topic titles descriptive. "Help please" or "problem need help" is not what we want to see when looking through the forums. Topics like "I can't get amx_glow to work properly." is much nicer as it allows people to see what the issue is before they click on the link. This will also assist other people with the same problem and keep them from posting a thread too.
- 2. Avoid using all capital letters in your titles or posts. Just a recap on very basic English usage, the only time capital letters are used are at the beginning of sentences, when writing an acronym, or at the beginning of names. We really don't need to see capital letters anywhere else.
- 3. Never ever ever ever ever ever call a plugin, product, or anything developed "buggy". Developers and people that happen to know what they're doing hate this. Why? Because about 98% of the time, the product is not buggy, and the person calling it that has no idea what they're doing. So by calling it "buggy", you're insulting the developers, and leaving a hint of doubt in people's minds. People that might have decided to use that product should you not have called it as such. If it is indeed a bug, someone from the development team (ie: bmann_420 or Yami) will say so themselves in the thread.
- 4. Don't make posts about it not compiling when you click the "Get Now" button on the bottom of the release thread. The online compiler does NOT work. It is outdated and awaiting an update. You need to compile locally (on your computer) if you wish to compile it yourself.
- 5. When you are in need of assistance, post as much information as you possibly can, even if you don't think it's useful. This means, post any applicable screenshots, post the output of "rcon amxx plugins", post the output of "meta list", and give a full explanation as to where your problem is.
- 6. Read all stickies to the fullest. If you are reading this now, chances are you already read the stickies, but just a reminder, stickies provide information. Important information, like why you may be experiencing the issue that you are. Many answers have already been answered in those stickies so all you would really be doing by making a new post is wasting our time.
- 7. Read any and all documentation and text files provided with the plugin. Developers tend to include vital information in files within the package you downloaded. In the case of AMX Mod X, you must any readme.txt files, cfg files, and ini files you see before asking any questions. More specifically for AMX Super, read the amx_super.cfg before asking any "How do I _____?" questions. Just like point #6, reading documentation will save everyone's time without annoying anyone.
- 8. In closing, I would like to remind you to take a quick glance at other topics on the page. See if anyone else is experiencing an issue and if they are, read up there and see if your question was answered.
That's about it for now. Please keep these very basic things in mind to make it much more pleasant for us all.
