I don't know how relevant this is to AMX scripting, but I think it's a good idea.

My programming background is from Games Design, which makes a WIP forum slightly more useful, since it is much easier to release demos etc. of games than plugins.

Still, I think it would be nice to have something a little like New Submissions, but for WIP's.

This would help remove the half-completed element from NPS, and would also give us somewhere to post plugins that we would like to release, just not yet.

So for plugins that are finished, but need more features, or for plugins that are half-finished, but are only worth doing if there is any demand for them.

It's also a good way of helping to avoid having lots of people make the same plugin at the same time.

What about post in New Plugin Submissions ask for it to be moved to Unapproved until you request it to be looked at for approval later.

But to be honest, is it much better to have a plugin in Unapproved than not online at all?

The point of a WIP would be so people know it's a WIP and help test it, or help tidy it up, or say "Wow, I so can't wait for this to be released. Keep up the good work".

And people might just take its unfinished status into account before blasting a pugin for whatever half-arsed reason.

I can see it being a good idea, but I personally think it would need some major stipulations, like, there has to be some form of update to the plugin on some timetable (1 major update the code a week at least or something along those lines) or else the plugin gets moved to the trash bin.

The flipside of this is that the New plugin submissions is kind of the "WIP" plugin forum (and holds this update policy as well), as is the approved plugins forum when updates to plugins need to be made when problems arise.

I would say for MAJOR plugin designs...like major code writing for large plugins and stuff, its worth it, but for smaller, basic, common plugins that are mostly posted, its probably not worth it.

You can do this in the Suggestions/Requests section. I have done it a couple times with feedback on my plugins that were WIP.

Even with the former comments, I still think this is a good idea.

I agree with this idea. I think the New Plugins forum should be simply for completed plugins that work as they should (this would also help the approval process be quicker because the approvers would know what is actually trying to be approved and not just being worked on, and other various reasons).

The Approved would obviously stay the same but should only allow completed plugins (as is now).

The Work In Progress section would be for those that are close to finishing, just getting started, whatever (this would also help a lot of confusion with the New Plugins section). This section would help the creators (via feedback, ideas, etc.) and also the users (by knowing what is coming soon, already being made, etc.).

I think this would be a hit with the forums. Perhaps my idea isn't the most accurate of what pixie is thinking but in the end, if a couple changes need to be made, I can't see what could go wrong with this section. Great idea in my opinion.

ME 2 I'm down with this, it's really a good idea
It will make plugin management more dynamic, I personally would like to see what is on the drawing board and what has been fully released and tested in completely different places. The WIP may help some coders get big projects posted partially and help them improve/finish it b4 declaring it ready for mass usage.
