Well, setting the entity's button int to something won't work as these are only handled for players (where your entity isn't a player). You may try using EV_VEC_velocity but I think it automatically gets slower OR EV_VEC_basevelocity, which I have never tried out. (btw avelocity seems to set the rotation of the object; it was probably used in Quake games for the weapon/healthbox/whatever rotation). If nothing works, you can still set a new origin every frame; this also isn't hard to implement...
