I wanted to start a discussion around the limitations of CMDB/CSDM in monolith, cloud-based Enterprises. The root issue I am trying to solve is how to allow management of manual data tied to thousands of cloud-based services without overwhelming the organization. Meaning- relationships between Business/Technical Services and the Applications and the underlying services that support them- non-persistent CIs.
I know many people will just say Service Mapping but I don't view that as the entire answer because I view the ITSM discipline as being one focused on tying manually managed data to automatically Discovered data.
