Reply With Quote #1

Goal: Create a new entity w/ one of the CS player models that does nothing but stand there, a simulated wax figurine.

Before attempting this I had no experience with using create_entity() or any of the other entity-based functions, so please forgive my n00bism. After searching through the forums I decided to use the Entcopy example that was recently posted to give me a starting basis.

I am able to create the entity, been testing with the gsg9 model from CS.

Problem: The model spawns in mid-run position, looking rather silly. Is there a way to set the posture of the model, or pose it in one of ots specific positions, or even set it to be playing one of its animations (like idle) ?

Any help would be great, I'm getting flustered and cannot seem to find any examples of this that help.

Thank you.

you can play around with entity_set_int(EV_INT_sequence, ...). That specifies the current animation. It is a number, so you will have to search a bit :}

Thats exactly what I was looking for, thank you...

Now if only I could figure out how to make the model face a specific direction, they all seem to spawn facing one direction...

Thanks PM,

just look at a player and type this in console, it tells u all the ent vars a player uses. U can maybe workout from there which are important and which r not.

What would we put in for the parameter. How do we know which ent # to specify?

the parameter is not required, if the number u entered isn't a valid ent (or not there), it just uses the ent u r looking at. If ur not looking at an ent, it will tell u a whole lot of nothing.

ents numbers are basically greater than 1 (0 = worldspawn?). I believe there is a maximum of just over 1000 ents. 1024 makes sense, but i've also heard 1065. There won't usually be more than 300 ents on a map (from my experience).

I see, lol very good, thanks for this plugin. From what I can tell the first few ent numbers currespond with the players in the game, in order in which they joined. net name turns out to be their name in the game, lol thanks a hell of alot, this will help me out enourmasly
