These are two completely different books... Sams Publishing outputs some fine material, and this one almost says nothing about your IDE... I strongly reccomend looking into it

Any ammount of VB that is learned in 24 hours is almost useless... Either you spend a few weeks learning the advanced applications, or you are stuck writing half-witted, Windows only, bussiness applications

DevC++ is a good IDE... Visual C++ is expensive. (and piracy makes baby Jesus cry! )

Yeah, i dont care who u are, you cant learn C++ in 24 hours. Maybe get started with a few functions, but never the whole thing. If you wanna start programming what i did is started with a more "low-profile" programming language. Actually, i would hate to admitt it but i started out with a TI-83 plus. (Basic Language) Which was really simple. Then i moved on to java...
But... I thought AMXX Script was "Small" Script? Can someone conferm it? Cause i am planning to learn it C++ sooner or later, but i also wanna be able to make my own plugins.

I'll bet if you could read fast enough, then you could learn C++ in 24 hours... It doesn't take that long to learn, really, but it takes a lifetime to master

Yes, the MSDN is great for a reference, but if you don't know anything about the language then it's basically trash... Being you need to look up keywords to find any information, and a lot of the articles are in-depth(How to get input from the mouse using .NET framework) as opposed to a newbie article(Your first inherited class)
