This plugin will check the time it is on the server every 60 seconds, and every time the hour ticks down it will change the amount of daylight (lighting) the map gets.

In plain terms, the closer it is to the night the darker the server will get, the closer it is to the afternoon/dawn the lighter the server will get.

Note: You will need Engine Module.
Changelog:

v1.0 - Initial Release

v1.1 - Ported to AMXx

v1.2 - Made midnight work, servers wouldd not read 24th hour.

v1.3 - Downtown1 added cvar to pause plugin. (sv_daylightchange, def = 1)

Sounds cool. That would be good along side the realism mod.

it is different because in the other plugin released, the admin had to change manually, this changes with the server time, like real day light.... so at midnight it is pitch black, and noon it is bright as hell.

this is all automatic, no commands needed. my server as i type is almost totally dark, i needed NVG just to find my way around dust.

only bad thing is that the sky does not darken. only the map, unless it was compiled to have some sort of light, like the lights of cs_assault, the roof (inside) would be dim, but verything else dark.

oooh ok the one I was thinking of was day_changer.amx and that was someone else porting your plugin for you. Btw at midnight the server is too bright, you might wnat to fix that bug.... likewise with my monitor I feel that its in general too bright from 8 pm - 6 am (at 2 am I dont need nightvision)...

you might want to consider expanding this plugin to allow admins to define their own brightness for each map and make give it seasonal capabilities (like for example, as_tundra would be fairly well lighted 24/7 in the summer and fairly dark 24/7 in december, while de_dust would be about the same throughout the whole year, and admins could set their server to a default if they'd rather have that so maps like de_prodigy which are mainly indoors wouldnt be affected since most of the lighting in that map is artificial anyways)... just an idea, its what I would do anyways if I came up with this first. I'd also make giving free nightvision during certain hours an option, since people who've played "night_fights" have found that players have a tendency to skimp on it and just camp for the map time with their flashlights on when they dont have nightvision.

this plugin goes by the server time, the operating system clock, so it might be 2 am where you are, but 6 am where your server is... im just guessing.

Yes this version was put out on May 21 2003, 09:51 PM by Downtown1 but for AMX mod not AMX Mod X with the same code but was just modified from AMX mod:

#include <amxmod>
#include <Vexd_Utilities>
#include <string>

To AMX Mod X:

#include <amxmodx>
#include <engine>
#include <string>

you can find the original code at http://djeyl.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=14644

no its just too bright for my preferences. If you want to force people to use nightvision you'll have to set the lighting to near pitch black (i.e. below c) At c level I need to use a flashlight for the dark corners but for most of the map I dont need any aid.

To once and for all fix the sky would be neat. Dunno if this is possible without modifying client. I've seen some client cheats can do that (make the sky textureless and black)
