Players get choke: 1-10 and loss: 1. When I use sv_minrate 50000 no one gets loss neither choke, but their ping gets big.



Note: From 10 players only 3 players get that situation. It's probably an problem with their rates, but when I set sv_minrate do 4-15000, then I get loss or choke.

The speeds tests you posted are not indicative of a gigE line. Always make sure to test to a server that's on fiber so you get the real results.
You should be getting speeds around 600MB's up and down, as long as the DC your in is not to saturated.

#1: Your low on ram, you should have at least 1 gig for server and overhead. CPU is okay. 3.3 gig is plenty especially for a server under 18 slots.

Try the below in your server config.

Don't use a low sv_minrate, that is the biggest factor in causing choke on your clients. all your doing is limiting their cl_updatrate.



If this ping problem comes and goes like you say it does, its one of three things, 1= software on the box running in the back ground, 2=The network connection itself, or 3= and amxx plugin < which I doubt. But you haven't posted your plugins.ini so we don't know yet.


If your on a VDS, then got the hell off Linux, it sucks as an HLDS platform, go with windows server 2008r2 enterprise with Hpet enabled.

You should never use an sv_minrate of 0, you should use an sv_minrate of at least 30,000 so that all of the players connected have enough rate to support the high cl_updaterate's we all play with.

Your not correct about the 1000 fps comment either. How good of CPU you have is what dictates if you can run at a high FPS. and he said he has a 3.3 gig CPU. that's more then enough to run on Linux at a sys_ticrate of 10,000 which is what you would need to achieve a full 1000 fps as long as your running with "-pingboost 2"
