Long time regular on our server with no problems just got banned with this. He said his game was super glitchy at the time of this ban. Colors went wonky and everything. He had to restart his computer.

In CSS, this thing happened when a player use an aimbot on another server. He turning off the cheat and he try connecting to your server, what protected by the SMAC. Without log out the game and log in again. Dont ask me why. Many busted cheater told me this.
My personal suggestion:
You can search that steam id with the google " 'steamid' sourceban". If you found many different entries, then he is definitely cheating. In my opinion.

He's lying. Either he had cheats loaded but didn't use them or he had cheats loaded and did use them. There's no way lag could cause that kind of false positive. Proof: https://forums.alliedmods.net/showpo...34&postcount=2 (although that specific comment is about CSS that also applies to TF2). My guess is he's a long time user of some private cheats and tries to be "legit" and finally got caught.
