Hiho,
maybe you remember my last thread where i discovered that sometimes the latency and the ping ofe very player on every of my servers jumps up to 1000

i found out that those lags appear on every server at the same time as soon as one of those servers proceeds a mapchange.

ich have 2 tf2 freak fortress servers and 2 team fortress saxton hale servers , what means a lot of models and sounds and maps with a huge size are downloaded by an average amount of 100 players (increased maxplayers on all servers)

Info: i have apache2 installed on my ubuntu system covering 4 gb ram , quad processor , ssd swap and what not

What I already did:
- bzip2 all files
- apache2.conf higher maxclients , more threads , disabled keepalive
- .htaccess to reject everything else than downloading over steam and only from my server ip

Is there anything else I can do to avoid lags while many players download things from my server?

My biggest suggestion is to host the files on a physically separate server.

There's Dropbox, which is free, fast, and has a generously high (and unknown) daily(?) cap.

That's exactly the wrong thing to do, lower it.

alright doing now

Code:
<IfModule mpm_prefork_module>
    StartServers          4
    MinSpareServers       3
    MaxSpareServers      10
    MaxClients          50
    MaxRequestsPerChild   100
</IfModule>
is it okay like that?

that's the point, to make a big community with a big maplist that any1 can use.. you can add your maps to be represented there
