Buh-Bye.
as far as i know players are still free to chose which server to play on, as for server owners, they are free to do whatever they want with their gameserver, hence if we want to force our players to watch an ad before enjoying what we pay for, and in what we spend huge amount of hours to keep running, players have no word in that. What they can simply do is change gameserver (supposing there is a second one offering the same things for nothing).

As for more related discussion to the topic,
I actually decided to disable the MOTD, losing about 10k impressions per day because i think that whatever the price is, nothing is worth losing even 1% of the players. We point on quality, hence I am patiently waiting for further development and a fix for the crashes. What i can personally tell is that i never experienced any crash, I run windowed mode but even in fullscreen i don't have problems.
I hope in a MOTD made only in html5 soon or later, this will allow us to get rid of this damned flash which is too slow for this job.

Supposedly most of the crashes are fixed. I'm one of the lucky people with some rare circumstance that results in crashes 100% of the time.

The dump files I have from this crash have been too large to upload to pinion's crashinator page, and they apparently don't read email attachments, so I doubt they've been getting much data on the current issue. I'm just going to start forwarding the emails to valve too.

Just a FYI Niko, that guy was an intentional troll "testing his waters" after his previous topic almost got him banned. Pay no attention to him.

My completion rates seem to have dropped quite a bit. Averaging around 65-70% this month from around 85-90% last month. Strange.

Yup, mine have dropped as well this month. Odd how we do good when completion rates aren't running and bad when they are.

Also, anyone else getting the following error quite a bit?
Quote:
[SM] Plugin encountered error 11: Invalid memory access
[SM] Displaying call stack trace for plugin "pinion_adverts.smx":
[SM] [0] Line 1002, pinion_adverts.sp::OnSocketReceive()
Sockets is running and every thing is up to date.

I haven't seen this error in the console, but I have noted that I get a freeze on srcds.exe when the Pinion plugin is running, when the server is due to change map or 'quit'. It freezes at 'soundemitter: something...'. Plugin is now removed and it's since been fine for most of the day. Very odd.

I have decided to drop Pinion until the bugs are worked out and it's stable.
Will look into reevaluating it later.

Still ar my completion rates poorly, since this month. Feb was wonderfull avarage 87% for a whole month @ 25 seconds.

Last week these ar my results. Anbody still the same problem. Or has diffrent results.

Total Impressions for period:
12,267
Average completion rate for period:
74.5%

My rates are dropping as well, with no setup change. At this point, I think pinion is assigning averages rather than collecting data.

on defense of pinion, the lower average might be the correct one, if you think about it having a 70% completion rate with only 30 secs forced seems more likely than 94% considering pinion ads are pretty long
