My comparison was not with pinion anyway it is with server admins who rely solely on advertising as the means of funding their servers as opposed to selling gimmicks and imaginary items. My point is if you can fund a television network through commercials then surely its possible to fund a few measly game servers.

Make no mistake google is to pinion as the Superbowl is to pop warner.

You could just disable the ad timer for now. Pinion is not using the completion rates until the begining of next month. I have already recouped some of my lost impressions doing so.

I've updated my anti-Pinion-bypass plugin to take immunity and disabled HTML MOTDs into account. If anyone is actually using this, you should update.

I'd also like to use this space to expand my view on using this. I don't personally like forcing ads on clients, so I don't do it. I do, however, respect server owners who decide to do so. Forcing timed ads on clients will most likely result in less traffic, but that is the choice of the owner.

Here's a link to a post on SPUF that goes into this in more detail. WARNING: Don't read the rest of that thread if you value your sanity.

That goes without saying, it's SPUF. Nice post though, and thanks for the plugin.

Is it possible to modify the pinion plugin skip the initial connection Ad? I would prefer to only show the Ads at the end of rounds so at least players can enjoy the game for a while before being forced to watch an Ad.

Do views count if I don't run the plugin but having the url in motd ?
-> I'm running a tf2 server without sourcemod or any other mods.
-> whats the downside besides immunity and counter ?

It still shows the Ad on the initial connection. I want it to ONLY show the ads at the end of rounds. I want my guests to enjoy themselves before being forced to watch an Ad instead of demanding "payment" upon connection.
