I have been noticing that when some players come on with lots of Unicode Charactors I cannot see the server player list. It just sits there querying server data. If I go in and ask the player to change their name and remove the Unicode charactors then when I check again the server player list comes up promptly.

Is there a solution to this I wonder? I have also noticed that sometimes the psay messages do not go through if the player has an ' (inverted comma) in their name.

I am just wondering if I have not set things up correctly? I have followed the instructions and have had one of my Hosts technicians set up the site and database side of things, as I do not understand these things and would have likely botched the job.

Thank You in advance for any assistance.

Could you post an example of such a unicode name?
Sounds like a bug to me, same for the send message problem. I'll look into it.

Hello Peace-Maker.

I am sorry that I have not replied before now. I have been sick from a spider bite and have only now remembered this post. Sorry.

Here is an example of what I meant with the Unicode Charactors : ๖ۣ ☆ One Epic Nugget™
and ▓♠Jáck♫ 'o' ♫Lantern

These are just 2 that I have on record that will cause this sort of behaviour. I hope that this helps.

Thanks for looking into this.

Had the same issue today. ÉĻĨŢĘ Čĥĭmƿ™ were the characters used.

Well thanks to Allied Modders and the quick thinking of the contributing Coders this problem has been solved.

Well at least for me. I am now using this simple, but wonderfully effective plugin which has solved this issue. https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=201792

It has taken me awhile to add all the Unicode charactors to the cfg and it is still a work in progress, but I am having far less issues now than before.

I havn't found the cause of this yet. The names are all sent to the browser correctly, the js is just not executed. Some weird utf8 stuff.

Thanks for that PeaceMaker.

I understand what you mean about it being weird. When I was adding some of these charactors to the config for that plugin, I noticed how some of them affected the surrounding text.

Still with that plugin that I have installed it has solved this issue now. It just replaces those disruptive charactors with normal text.
