• sometimes it needs more advanced softwares like photoshop (see this example).
• and sometimes, we can't make it as famous as we want from 24 bits colors (see this parachute).

You maybe have to export and import the textures or games palette i guess.
I heard PS being capable of this but not sure. Im mostly editing UT skins
and they get palettized automatically on import. My favorite editor is still
MS Picture-It from 2000 btw. and for painting and format saving i use GIMP.

P.S.: In my mediafire Quake2 section is a possibly
interesting file which describes palette behaviors.
Does the link work to browse My(Kaal979s) files folder?
