The reason you black out the sites which really are not fully down but showing information to inform people of what is going on. Believe it or not but prob half those that visited here today didn't have one damn clue what SOPA meant or was in the works. See congress and the Govt US or any other likes to pass laws without saying one damn word to the general public or the voters...its something that to be honest if I see any one representing me voting for this crap they will not get my vote the next election and will get slammed by many emails from me alone and phone calls about how I do not agree with it.

This isn't the only thing I've done voiced my opinion about and everyone has the right to do that..we pay them to make our choices but not those that we don't like.

It will affect your country, because you will go to sites that are registered in the United States, which the US Government can and will shut down using SOPA. ANYTHING ON ANY WEBSITE in the United States that is infringing copyright will cause the gov't to shut the entire site down. For example, if something was on this site that infringed copyright, the government would shut it down. Then, there would be no more plugins distributed freely unless we made a new website.

And no, we aren't giving them exactly what they want. They don't WANT to shut down the entire internet, but they think that their stupid bill is going to stop piracy on the internet (which it won't). We and thousands of other websites are telling users what it would be like if SOPA or PIPA were passed, so that they can petition to stop it.

It goes further than that. It's already been mentioned in another thread, but I'll mention it here again: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_n...er_supervision
Many domains anywhere can be made unreachable. Also, SOPA makes it possible to force payment processors to stop servicing a targeted site, no matter where that site is hosted.

That depends on what constitutes human rights. While I don't think freedom of speech should be limitless, apparently there are people who think it should be.
