Would this be a sign of likely cheating or a false positive?

Eye Angles: 6 0 0

That wouldn't be considered cheating at all, and SMAC shouldn't detect it as a cheat either.

Well it did, and I'm using the r204 version of SMAC. Perhaps there's a bug somewhere in the code?

Here's a few other ones it has detected. I've separated the different users with a space and made them a different color every other user.

Eye Angles: 359 0 0

Eye Angles: 180 -255 0
(Detection #2) (Deviation: 101°)
Eye Angles: 180 -107 0
Eye Angles: 180 -184 0
Eye Angles: 9 270 0

Eye Angles: 180 -107 0

Eye Angles: 180 -184 0

Eye Angles: 210 98 0

PS: There's more a lot more of these in my logs. If you want the full logs and/or my configuration let me know and I'll send you what you need by PM.

Tony, might be good, in a sticky somewhere, to post what are legal eye angles so admins can compare in situations where a member of their community or someone who statistically seems legit (kdr and the like) but gets a ban. Just to double check incase there is infact a bug in the system that might rarely trigger on people whom are legit.

Those all look like properly detected eye angle violations. You can PM me your log if you want me to take a closer look.

Sure I'll make a proper post about this when I get a chance. In the meantime you can see them in the code (eyetest.sp#L-63).

Other than the previous issue where bots would get banned on rare occasions, I have not seen a false positive reported.

Wow, there's another one that it thought was suspicious: Eye Angles: 0 0 0

I don't even know how these angles would evaluate true...

(angles[0] > 135.0 || angles[0] < -135.0 || angles[1] > 270.0 || angles[1] < -270.0)

makes no sense... :/

Anyways as for this comment "+/- normal limit * 1.5 as a buffer zone."

Wouldn't it be better to still warn admins assuming it goes past the normal limit but only ban when its totally excessive like 1.5 times? o.o

This is some strange behaviour. What mod is this on?

Can I see the logs or the angles?

A real player can only have view-angles to a certain point, if it goes beyond those limits then it's a sign of cheating.

The point of that is to avoid false detections. Warning admins during this time wouldn't be very accurate.

The same guy has gotten banned 3x for questionable eye angles. I told him to have a demo running so that the next time he gets banned we can analyze it and determine what's going on. If he sends me the demo I'll pass it along to you. The angles he's gotten banned for so far are:

Eye Angles: 6 0 0
Eye Angles: 5 0 0
Eye Angles: 0 -49 0

Other than this user and one other, I don't think I've had any problems with SMAC or the Eye Angles Module. I've reviewed the SMAC logs and all of the other bans seem to validly go in excess of reasonable angles.

Yes, I understand what the code was doing. What I meant with that comment was that I don't understand how 0 would evaluate as true in that if statement.

What do you mean by mod? If you're referring to the type of game then the servers are Counter-Strike: Source.
