    Please note: If you downloaded a custom map with the flamethrower already in it, all you need is the smx file on the server. You must also have SDKHooks installed.

    Description:


    This flamethrower was initially released with the map "Trapped" and requires this plugin to be functional. The model/material/sound/particles can be downloaded separately for use in other maps.

    Known Bugs:

    - On occasion, the particle effect for the pilot light will remain visible when being strangled by the smoker or after being incapacitated

    Limitations:

    The flamethrower forces the player into a 3rd person mode, which is more like observer mode. This causes some parts of the GUI and special effects, such as glow, to disappear. There's also a bug where the player's run animation doesn't animate properly, so the plugin forces the player to walk while it is equipped. Due to client prediction, this can make things a bit jerky, so it's recommended to hold shift to smooth things out. To prevent further bugs, +USE is blocked.

    Some Installation Notes:

    Make sure to modify your missions text file in your vpk to include the line:

    "meleeweapons" "machete;crowbar;fireaxe;cricket_bat;katana;b aseball_bat;knife;thrower"

    Thrower must be there for this to work.

    Update: Added the scripts folder to the flamethrower resources.

    Compile Notes:

    Clicking "Get Plugin" does not work, as the code requires the smlib to be included. Make sure to download the flamethrower.smx file instead. If you wish to download flamethrower.sp and compile it yourself, you can obtain the smlib at http://www.sourcemodplugins.org/.

    v_thrower.mdl ....

    Where can I find a file? The model is listed as Error ...

    v_thrower.mdl is contained within flamethrower_resources_part2.zip. Make sure to extract the models folder into the root of your vpk file, or the root of your left4dead2 folder.

    Would this be able to work with the Official maps,
    if I changed the melee weapons list for the campaign.txt?
    Also if a client joins that doesn't have the models downloaded,
    would he be able to use or see the flamethrower?

    it's possible to use. I tested but it not shows particles on my way. And you have to put a vpk on your server and also a plugin that forces players joining to download the files which are placed in the vpk. Like extract the vpk and put the folders in the right order.

    If you replace the particles_manifest.txt, the particles should show up. Just be sure to modify pak01_dir.vpk for particles_manifest.txt the same was as with the campaign files.

    What folder is this in?

    1) I'm trying to find the folder/file to edit on my server and I cannot. Where do I do this?

    2) I would like this to work for versus and realism versus. Is that possible?

    In the missions.txt of the custom campaign you are making.
    If you are not making a custom campaign then you can't use the Flamethrower.

    If I was to download a custom campaign (suicide blitz as example) - would it be able to work then?


    Is someone knowledgeable enough to make this plugin so it works via 1st-person view and on the standard versus/realism versus maps?

    No. It only works on maps it was included on (Trapped and Necropolis come to mind)
