what would give you the impression that valve would physically remove a mutation? they havent yet.. they just keep adding more.

mutations are tied into an achievement so its very unlikely they will remove any that show up in that list. it would look rather silly to earn it with versus survival as one of the mutations, then suddenly one day its a new mutation that you never played.

I am actually hoping that valve makes versus survival a permanent game mode and then script a vote players can call upon to change it to super survival without the need to start a new map.

The idea is to have this integrate with a public server as smoothly as possible. Right from a versus survival lobby to a vote for super survival.

No need to mess around with starting a versus lobby first, then moving to survival...etc
