ok I've attatched a newly built pak02_dir.vpk in zip format... hope that helps.

Place in your update folder.

Make sure to remove any previous melee_unlock vpk files from addon folder...
and also make sure you received valve's stealth update from Friday.
[after Friday's update, they removed the pak02_dir line from the whitelist.cfg]

also if this forum botches up the zip file like it did with the 7z, here's another mirror:

So I overwrite the old pak02_dir.vpk on the server? This pak02_dir.vpk would have to be overwritten every friday with valves mutation update?

no this is totally different...
you are talking about pak02_dir.vpk in the left4dead2 folder...
that is for l4d1 models and materials [AKA l4d2 addon_support tool]

place the melee unlock pak02_dir.vpk in the update folder [the one with all pak01 files]

You're not replacing anything... original game files are not modified, except the mission files and the melee_manifest should overwrite the originals...
the only possible conflict may be the mission.txt's... since they are loaded from the update\pak01 file... but the melee scripts should load just fine...
Just need to figure out a way to load the mission.txt files correctly.

Have you encoutered problems with the modified missions files not being loaded then?

with the l4d1 map mission files, sometimes the loading screen will be checkered, if the original vpk'ed mission files conflicted with our pak02 updated mission.txt... but its easy for us to just replace the vpk packed mission.txts..

for the case of this plugin, you may want to run just the melee scripts from the pak02 file and put the mission.txt files into an addon vpk instead... if keeping them in the pak02 file causes conflict, try moving the mission folder to a addon.vpk... if that doesn't work, yer kinda screwed...

Ok. I'll try that in a while. What about the animation bugs with riotshield and knife?

Edit: Well, I just tried. It diden't work for me. Coulden't spawn any of the other melee weapons on c1m1. Only the supported ones. pak02 dident do anything.
And the method we used before is no longer working becuase valve seems to have broken addon support for vpks in addons/

I'll leave this for a while and wait untill there is a better solution or anyone confirms your method.
