Oh, doesn't work on a local server, my bad. Dani's files seem to be pak's which overwrite the originals, this will cause consistancy errors no?

Im try : l4d2_MITSR_Weapon "hunting_knife, tonfa, katana, golfclub"
is not working, always replace a melee that I have not chosen.

But, if you put : l4d2_MITSR_Weapon "hunting_knife", no problem the x knife spawn on all the maps

hey n3wton, nice work bro... and to dani, excellent work...

may I make a suggestion/contribution?

n3wton's vpk was nice and all, but sometimes, the game doesn't override the original files [well scripts at least] if they are packed in an addon.vpk...

Dani had the right idea to add the melee scripts to the update folder...
since the game loads update folder first, then left4dead2_dlc, and then left4dead2... and if the same files are found in two or more of these three folders, the ones in update will override the latter 2 folders. so dani is on the right track, but the issue of weekly updates plagues his fix...

And I don't believe having original files will mess with consistency [as mentioned previously], but they are redundant.

so here's my contributiion:
I've repacked dani's vpk:
Melee_Unlock_v2
-removed redundant files.
-packed into vpk named pak02_dir.vpk

to install:
just extract the pak02_dir.vpk into your left4dead2\update folder.

This way it will overrride the original melee_manifest.txt. And the vpk will load fine, and without issues with weekly updates.

This is the same method we use at l4d1onl4d2 to load our custom scripts...
If anyone wants to lend us a hand... please let me know... we need some script-loving folks for some vscripts and to check out our new talker files.

Let me know if this method works better for you guys as I haven't tested it myself...

@Eraa
l4d2_MITSR_Weapon "hunting_knife, tonfa, katana, golfclub"
is not programmed in the released version, only in the version im working on which is released yet...

@satannuts
Nice work, though i'll stick with my vpk as i've used it for the past month now with no problems but thankyou for your contribution

as for the latest version, it might be out this weekend... we'll see XD

Yours
N3wton

satantus, you'd better stick to the vpk uploaded by n3wton at the first page.
Valve added consistensy check against pak files with latest update

yes they did, only for:
update\pak01_dir.vpk
left4dead2_dlc1\pak01_dir.vpk
left4dead2\pak01_dir.vpk
[and steam.inf]...

so the vpk i upped should be in the clear... but thanks 77.

tho, with the update also allows addon vpk files to take priority over the original game files... so it may be safe to run this from the addon folder again.

According to the steam forum it's pak02_dir aswell. Weather you run it on server or client.
I don't know if it's true, but I read people were kicked becuase of consistency check against pak02_dir.
If its true or not, don't know. I'm still running the vpk at the front page.
