Alright.. So it takes like 2 timeouts before I can connect to a server, then when I finally do connect it gives me that 'Reliable channel overflowed' error message crap.. What the hell causes all of this? It's been doing the timeout thing for a long time now.

Do you have a rather poor quality computer or internet connection?

Both of these problems are usually caused by packet overflow. The Ping timeout may be because you have spyware, malware, or other malicious software running in the background sending packets through your computer/router/modem which could in-turn overflow leaving the packets for your game to not be able to send. The reason you may come back and be able to play is because the router might notice the signature on the packets and put an end to them, temporarily. The reliable channel overflow usually links back to a few problems. High rates (cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate) will usually contribute to this dilemma. How you may ask. If you have to high of either of these rates, you may send/receive packets much quicker than your bandwidth can handle. cl_updaterate controls how fast the server sends packets to you and cl_cmdrate is how fast packets are sent out. cl_cmdrate is much less common to send the packets because usually the router would realize too many packets are being sent and it would stop them. In order to fix this, lower your rates about 10 each. Note that they should never be the same for the same reason that your download speed and your upload speed are never the same. The best thing you could do is try connecting computer direct to modem bypassing the router. A really helpful thing to do would be to clean your computer of all malicious software because they use open ports to spam packets (some). Anyways, I will post more as necessary.

Hmm.. Interesting .. What would you recommend I put for the rates?

PS: The overflow error is usually just when I enter my UWC3 server.

This error must be attributed to AMX Mod X, i disabled ALL my 3rd party plugins for my SI dedicated server and still recieved the error, also i lowered those rates by 10 then 15 and the error still occurs. SI is the only mod i have that this error occurs on.

Hmm.. I know it's AMXX doing it, it gets hella annoying. One time it actually took me SEVEN times to connect to my server! Anywho.. What are some good settings for my rates and what not? I never get em right. ;p

Search google for tutorials on rates. there are alot of good hints that have been posted, I distinctly remember someone saying one command should never be any higher than your FPS. It's stuff like that they really is helpful to know....and it all depends on your connection as well.

Well, everytime I go to connect to ANY server I need to timeout at least ONCE, and then try again. And if it's my server, I'll usually get an overflow error. FFS, somebody find me some good rates tuts or somethin.. ;)
