But seriously, have you guys ever wondered if the performance of non-steam servers is the reason why they use it and not because of the money?

My ping on non-steam servers that are in other countries is about 80 and it's steady and if they were steam servers it would be like 140. A while ago I found my new favorite css server and I was amazed by the performance, I suspected that it was non-steam and I was right. My game-play on non-steam servers is always fluent and reliable. I just don't think it's a coincidence or better hardware.

Steam servers used to be good about 5 years ago, I don't know if they changed something to make things slower or what but I haven't found one steam server that has the responsiveness like non-steam servers have, at least not for a long time. And the steam client is crap, it's slow starting up and shutting down, it takes up about 200mb of ram, and every time I quit a game, steam doesn't want to respond and won't focus for a few seconds.

To be honest, if steam didn't have the community/friends feature, I wouldn't use it.

And the 'steam police' are the most annoying members ever, with their retarded 'techniques' for catching non-steam users. I'm sick of it, they are making these forums suck way more than non-steam users.

Also, Jelle, you need to stop acting like your sh*t don't stink.
