It seems that there really is length limit somewhere, but I don't know if it is nvault_set or maybe nvault editor (saved string is fine, but nvault editor is not able to display it to the end because it's too long).
The best solution would be to split data into some parts (example: save each character separately).

Have you solved your save\load issue yet?

Can you post values for MAX_CHARS, g_skillcounter, g_charcounter, and MAX_POTIONS or PM me your plugin so far (or post it)

I know g_skillcounter and g_charcounter are variables, but what are the potential range of values?

It would be best to save it in multiple keys instead of trying to fit it all into one.

No. It will be better with multiple keys so you won't have this error.
Don't be stubborn and go with the more practical method.
