low on ram.
depends on server connection, player connection, modules/addons installed, player settings and so on..
but 2GB of ram is very low.

No it isn't. You are not taking into consideration the amount of RAM the entire system consumes, not only the gameserver.

Not really. Minimal Linux server configurations use like 50-70MB of RAM.

Then you got a ton of other stuff running on it. Debian on idle don't go over 50 MB. Stock CentOS should be less than 100MB at all times.

I ran 3 servers at 1000 tickrate on just 1 GB ram. Processor was the bottleneck, as my max ram usage was ~900. I know its cutting it too close.

that i7 should handle just ok.. i use xeon servers cpu, 2 of them actually.. i know.. its too powerfull for a gameserver or any other stuff, but that i7 should handle pretty good anything you throw at it
did you try running the server with pingboost 2/3 ?

I was also facing these kind of problems , the main issue is resources ofHost . You can see in my old thread i also faced same problem . The final Solution is that change your host .

Because the vps is like shared hosting , when other users use more resource it effect others .

you're a dumbass

linux is by design made to use as much ram as possible, so cached things will not be removed from memory unless the memory is actually needed

debian's minimum requirement for no desktop (aka what you have on your server) is 128mb, recommended being 512.

do you have any other reason to say a game that was designed to work with less than 512mb ram, and does very well so if all plugins are well made; would require more than 2gb of ram? Except boasting about your 94GB of memory which means absolutely nothing (it's not even expensive, how old are you?)

@OP
there are many reasons for which a server won't run properly
three main ones would be
- bad connectivity
- not enough resources (not the case as 1/4th of your specs would be more than enough, but the VPS might be badly virtualized, highly unlikely though)
- bad modules or plugins

You need to start monitoring your server properly and provide thorough information as "my server runs bad" and your .cfg means nothing.

Use net_graph to check whether it's the connectivity or not.
Monitor the server's FPS in real time to see if there's heavy fps drops during the game. Those will cause very noticable lags.
Disable all 3rd party plugins and see if the problem is still there. If it is, you can eliminate the bad plugin option.
