I'm all about giving credits, and I love the AMX mod.
But when I try to get people to play on my PCW server for 1.6, they want to use another server because of the visual stuff coming from the mod. I run a few subtle addons that make the game run more like 1.3/1.5, and I'd sort of want to lure players into playing with these, but the AMX mod messages gives it away.

So I'm wondering, how do I remove the msg that displays the server name, or "this server is running amx mod" in the middle of the screen? I'd also like to remove the chat help and language messages if this is possible.

I'm sorry for my bad engrish grammar, thanks very much for all help!

Ok, I'm sorry. I should have done some more googling before posting here!
I managed to remove the welcome messages, and the amx_language message.
but amx_help is still bothering me, I read somewhere that I should comment out this:

#define DISPLAY_MSG // Comment to disable message on join

in adminhelp.sma.

But it did not work, I'm not sure I understand how to recompile this sma file.
Cannot find compile.exe in /scripts folder.

Thanks

Just edit amxx.cfg, it's in the configs folder.

P.S. Are you using AmxMod or AMXX?

Nearly all servers run AMX Mod X or something similar so I'm not sure why you think that that is what is driving people away.

You can recompile it using the web compiler. Save the resulting file as adminhelp.amxx and overwrite yours with the new one then restart your server.

I tried that web compiler, but when I chose the file "adminhelp.sma." it just said "You must upload a valid file!"

Also, how can I replace adminhelp.sma with adminhelp.amxx? Does that work?

Thanks, I am nub.

So, I think the reason I cant compile the sma file is because the server is running on linux. And the file is from that server. I have access to the server via ftp, so I tried looking for the compile.exe but did not find it. I did find a guide to how to compile on linux, but I cant do that because I dont have linux.

You can safely compile it local on your computer and put it on your server. Download a windows base package for the includes and compiler.

I tried that now, dragged and dropped the adminhelp.sma file onto compile.exe

"fatal error 101: cannot write to file dir/adminhelp.amx"

Going nuts here, all for a single amx_help msg x)
