Unfortunately the DaF-Plugin does not work any more after the last update:

So I'm wondering what this Plugin does. Maybe it is possible to do the same just with IPTables?

I do not really understand why this runs as server plugin and what it does to protect against DoS attacks.

You don't need this plugin since the update long ago, adding commands:
sv_max_connects_sec
sv_max_connects_sec_global
sv_max_connects_window
sv_max_queries_sec
sv_max_queries_sec_global
sv_max_queries_window

those are against completely different exploits...
