I even consider restricting them to 5 lines or so.

I agree. Unless your plugins are good, you shouldn't need to pu them in your signatures because they will be downloaded anyways because they are good ideas.

I think the signature limit is fine, and that you all need to just drop it, else as Sniper said, you might just make it worse and get lines removed.
