Why didn't Avalanche use threaded queries for the SQL version of the plugin ?

That's a good question. I did thread a handful of the queries, but not all of them. The main reason is because in most of the cases, adding threaded queries would have required big rewrites to handle threaded behavior (because things don't happen right away or necessarily in the same order), which also would have made maintaining SQL and non-SQL versions a lot more complicated for me.

If I use SQL storage, my server has some problems. The gameplay freezes sometimes for 0.5-1s and I know for sure that this can be solved by using threaded queries. The SQL server is hosted on localhost - so, no problem here.

What can I do besides going back to file storage ?

Hi portocala,

I apologize, I don't know of any solution at the moment. I agree that threaded queries could solve some hiccups like that but unfortunately I don't have the time to rewrite them into GunGame right now. Out of curiousity, do the freezes occur in the middle of the game or just on map change? How big is your gg_stats table? And are there ever any SQL errors logged?
