(sorry if this is the wrong place, newbie alert!)

I have a server for L4D2 and need the VAC disabled, I have tried doing -insecure in the launch options but no luck. I read that an alternative option is to go into the game.lib file (might be ancient) and change the secure option from "0" to "1" but obviously I don't have it on my pc so i'm hoping you can give me alternative suggestions or help me with this.

-insecure should work fine - note that in most modern games it will only disable VAC detections, not allow already-banned players to join. game.lib's secure option is for HL1 engine games.

Okay, I have done the -insecure in the launch options and when I try to connect it gives a text box saying:

Connection Blocked:
Please remove plug-ins before attempting to connect to a VAC secured server.
addons/metamod/bin/server

Is there more to this, what does this mean?

I've removed all plugins and messed with stuff but the end result is this text box or metamod and sourcemod not working?

You're running both the server and the client with -insecure?

Sorry but how do I do that, do I just go into the config file and add -insecure?

You need to set the client's game launch options to include -insecure .
