[L4D] Reserved slots - Sort of

So here's the scenario... I'm playing a little L4D on my own server. I've got a couple pubbers on because I couldn't fill all the slots with my friends. All of a sudden a friend comes along and wants to play. We all know how hard it is to get into a server the second that someone is kicked even if you're using autojoin.

So, would it be possible to set up my server so that when the server's at 4/4 or 8/8 players, someone can join and end up in spectate? Then, I could just switch my friend the spectator with my non-friend the player using Sourcemod, then kick the pubber.

Is this doable? If so, how?

When i want to give slot i just increase sv_maxplayers by 1 or 2 slots and then switch or swap my friends. I use L4Toolz for modified versus and sv_maxplayers works really good. Anyway we need reserved slots for l4d since ancient times.

Not too sure about it but on my server I use L4Downtown extension to set maxplayers to 8, but -maxplayers is 16, which made me have 8 spectator slots. (Server must be unreserved to allow spectators to join)

I tried the L4Downtown plugin but it wouldn't let me join when the server was at 4/4 or 8/8.

use
sm_cvar l4d_killreservation 1
or
sm_cvar l4d_unreserve_full 1

im not shure which so i use both HA HA HA

I looked into it some more and I installed the Left4Downtown and Remove Lobby Reservation plugins and now this works!

I connect to my full server as a spectator, use Sourcemod to switch me with one of the players, then kick the player! woohoo!

But i think everyone could connect now on your server up to the 18 slots?

Or are these slots reserved for admins?

Only people joining with the "connect" command, via the server browser, or through Steam groups will be able to connect after the normal max players have been reached. Players in a lobby will not connect at that point.

Yeah up to l4d_maxplayers

Friends can join through the friends list as well if the server is unreserved.

Don't forget to set this in server.cfg!

The former is part of SuperVersus, and the other the part of Remove Lobby Reservation.
