Hi guys,

any way to get thirdperson on tf2 without sv_cheats 1?

I was on server 72.51.33.23:27015 Unusual Trading Community Trade Server, thirdperson is alreadyy working! but how got they it wihtout sv_cheats 1?

Can't connect so I can't see. But i've always wondered if it would be possible to use the code that FlamingSarge uses in his BetheHHH plugin to simulate thirdperson at all.

I believe on those unusual trading servers where thirdperson works, sv_cheats is set to 1 on clients. I wrote a simple plugin for my server that uses sm_fcvar to send sv_cheats 1 to clients, who can then type thirdperson in the console.

But I'm going to look at the Be the HHH plugin.

Apparently the Be the HHH plugin puts the display into observer mode on the HHH prop, so I don't think it can be adapted to work in normal gameplay.

Fair enough. I would use the sv_cheats on a client option, but that would then disable their ability to gain achievements right?

Yes, I believe it does. Because of this, my plugin create sm_thirdperson, which only sends sv_cheats 1 to the client, then tells them to type thirdperson in the console.

That way not everyone has achievements disabled.

Alright, this should allow clients to go into thirdperson on mods that support ClientCommand().

On other mods, it'll set the client's sv_cheats to 1, so they can type thirdperson in their console.

Typing firstperson in their console will revert it.

It's really nothing special, just a base for others work off of, really.

No, it's not.. sv_cheats is set on 0 and you can get thirdperson/firstperson by typing in chat (not in console) on this server

thx but i personally should never leave sv_cheats on and Would that not disable stats/achievements?

What he means is that cheats are only enabled for the person that types the command and only thirdperson can be used. You can use DrMckays plugin to also type !thirdperson in chat.

And yes this will most likely disable cheats for whoever is using thirdperson. I don't think there is anyway around it.

Yes, it only enables sv_cheats for the person using thirdperson. It will disable stats and achievements, but they can't use commands that require the server to have sv_cheats enabled (such as noclip, god, impulse, etc).

Although if they know how, they can enable a wallhack.
