Right off the start I am new! So please be patient if these questions seem too elemental for you, that have more experience.

I am running a css server with mani plugin I would like to install BAILOPAN's Deathmatch, but in order to do so I need to install Metamod:Source and SourceMod.

I am alittle confused which one would be the one that would replace mani admin, and what is the difference between these two.

Do I need to add anything to my Autocfg to enable them.

Could I still keep Mani running, until I feel comfortable or am I just asking for a server crash

SourceMod is the one with the built-in admin system, so that is the one that replaces Mani.

You COULD keep Mani and SM running together, but eventually CS:S is going to switch over to the OrangeBox engine, and then you'll want SM.

SM is updated very frequently (1.2.0 just came out today) and that have constantly updating snapshot beta releases. There is a lot of official and community support for any problems or questions you may have.

Keeping that in mind, I would go SM over Mani, having used them both in the past.

If you have any other questions, please ask them here =)

BEst thing for you to do.

Install Metamod Source.

Install sourcemod 1.2

Install deathmatch plugin.

Then continue to use Mani for admin, or switch over to sourcemod. Which in my opinion is much more robust.

And both meta mod and sourcemod are loaded using .vdf files, no editing needed.

Personally, once you start using SourceMod you will hate the oldy yet good Mani.

SourceMod still gets updates, and works in L4D, why I use it.

Sorry still a little confused.

So SourceMod (which is also SM) is an Admin tool that can replace Mani.

Then what exactly does Source MetaMod do? And why do I need it?

MetaMod:Source makes a lot of other plugins possible by showing a bunch of functions that you normally couldn't see.

SourceMod uses these functions to create a scripting environment that allows you to create simple plugins to do more or less anything you want. SourceMod comes with an admin system built in.

Metamod is a plugin that unlocks the world of options.

Sourcemod is a plugin for metamod that lets you control all these options.

Metamod + Sourcemod = Mani.
