I'm looking for a plugin that will address a particular type of griefing, the player on your team who grabs a flag and sabotages the team by running around refusing to cap.

The primary objectives is to improve the odds that a player who's actually willing the make the cap will get a chance at the flag in spite of a griefer on the same team working to prevent it, and the secondary objective is to discourage the behavior through automatic corrective action.

I'm not picky about how exactly this problem has to be solved, and have some general ideas for potentially workable solutions, but no idea how to implement them.

  • Burn damage applied to the flagholder after a period of time from when the flag was first picked up (say: 5 minutes)
  • Not resetting the timer when a flag is dropped and picked back up, only pausing it while it's being carried.
  • Allowing the flag carrier to receive friendly fire after the flag has been carried for a length of time.
  • Freezing the flag carrier in place randomly after the flag has been carried for a length of time.
  • Damage vulnerability and/or movement speed debuffs on the flag carrier after a period of time. (IIRC, This was the approach WoW took on CTF battlegrounds.)
  • Diminishing returns on the flag reset timer. (Each time it's dropped and picked back up, it might lose 5 seconds, until the timer eventually reaches 0 and the flag returns as soon as it's dropped)
