Hi ,

Even if we put in command line as sys_ticrate 500, admins of the server can change it's value through rcon or by adding it in configs.

Anyway to restrict it(without amx plugins)?

Yeah, change your rcon password and don't let other admins access it.

I have a hosting company. And the price o the server is fps based. So some clients buy less fps server and put high ticrate to make it 1000 fps .

So need to restrict that. Am i clear now?

Afaik, ticrate cannot be changed during runtime. This is why game server providers don't let you have access to the command line (since this is where you would need to change it).

That's hard to believe unless game server host companies have something else running to prevent it.

You're right, I forgot that I have a VDS. It's been a long time since I rented a plain game server. However I do set my sys_ticrate in my server.cfg.

Ok, I just tested.

server.cfg
Code:
sys_ticrate 90
command line
Code:
./hlds_run -game dod -port $portnum +maxplayers 30 +map dod_kalt -sys_ticrate 45
Code:
stats
CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
 2.00 0.00 0.00 0 0 44.23 0
It seems the "cvar" value is set to what ever is in server.cfg but the server only actually runs at what is set in the command line. If nothing is set in the command line then the value in server.cfg is used and changing sys_ticrate via rcon changes it also.

Therefore, putting the ticrate in the command line is the solution to the OP's problem. When your clients change sys_ticrate via rcon it doesn't do anything other than make them think they are getting more lol .
