Just got this email from my cPanel:

10 failed login attempts to account root (system) -- Large number of attempts from this IP: 123.21.219.46 Reverse DNS: localhost Origin Country: Vietnam (VN)

Are they trying to get sysadmins to slip up and blacklist 'localhost'?

Likely, yes.

Either that or the person/company who owns that IP has no idea what they're doing.

Side Note: APNIC won't let me link to the lookup page for that IP.

They (VNPT) are probably just lazy. Seems as if many of their ips have 'localhost' as rDNS.
