FYI, I was confused at first with where to place the gamedata file relative for L4D2, where it (l4dtoolz.txt) actually goes into the gamedata folder that is under l4dtoolz, not under the addons/sourcemod/gamedata folder. So it correctly goes into addons/l4dtoolz/gamedata, hope that helps others in same situation as I was in.
