From what i do and know you can use multiple PHP versions on same Server, using FastCGI, im using 3 7.3 / 7.4 / 8.1

You can use still php 5.4 on a isolated container like docker mabye ? so it cannot affect main OS.

Just sayin or as your ideea a free vps mabye.
