This is usually provided by the data center your box is hosted in. I'm not too aware of anything YOU can do on your server to protect against a real DDoS attack. Not a source bug (which I think are worked out anyways). Contact your server provider and ask if its an option. Most data centers now days come with DDoS protection at a premium cost.
